The National Opioid Epidemic is a complex and devastating public health crisis that claims more than 140 Americans a day. The Pensacola News Journal reported in July 2018 that Escambia County Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to roughly one opioid-related overdose per day. “There is an urgent need for more effective drug and alcohol addiction treatment options to serve people who are at a crisis point.
