Shana is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor practicing at Gulf Breeze Recovery. Being a Pensacola native, she is honored to serve in this profession in her hometown. She graduated from The University of West Florida with over four years of clinical experience. Her work focuses on helping those struggling to form deep and meaningful relationships or emotional bonds with others due to childhood experiences. Shana uses integrated trauma-informed lenses in her career to include eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), among others. In her free time, you can find Shana spending time with family and her two Labradors or taking a swing at renovation projects in her new home.
According to Shana: “We all have different ideas of addiction and what that looks like. Many do not want to feel something and begin using a substance outside of themselves to regulate their feelings. I have clients who will be in a room full of people and still feel lonely.
As counselors, we can guide and ground them to pull themselves back. We offer a sense of safety. At GBR, we want to focus on individualized care. We use therapies that bring guests into balance and help them concentrate on areas where they need to focus. And allows us to be able to relax in other areas.”
