The Health of The Helper is an essential aspect of any helping profession.
For a non-12 step, holistic, insight-based program like THRIVE it’s vital!
The way we THRIVE at Gulf Breeze Recovery is the best example to our guests, for us, the health of the helper is crucial!
The most overlooked and important aspect of any drug and alcohol treatment center is the Health of The Helper®.
If you think about it, people cannot give what they do not have. I can’t give you ten dollars if I only have five. A treatment center cannot give everyone who attends the drug and alcohol rehab program the best chance at recovery if the staff are not living examples. Those attending a residential treatment center learn not only from their therapists and group coordinators but also from medical staff, administration, support staff and housekeeping. Part of what is learned can be subtle and from observation.
The fundamentals of the mental health recovery portion of Gulf Breeze Recovery’s THRIVE® program not only helps our guests find a new, healthy way to live, but it also helps staff to maintain their own health. By supporting our staff, we are also indirectly helping our guests and giving them the best chance at recovery. Providing a healthy environment allows for our staff to grow and actually enjoy waking up and going to work. When the staff, administration, nurses, therapists, chefs, etc. actually appreciate their work, this creates a low-stress, healthy work environment. Our guests recognize the health of the staff and organization and the effects of this healthy environment overflow to the guests.
The Health of The Helper® is a way of life at Gulf Breeze Recovery. Our staff engages in multiple training sessions to help ensure their understanding of the THRIVE® program and how the fundamentals of the program can be used to improve their working and private lives. This training includes group and one-on-one sessions with the clinical director and therapists, along with multiple phone sessions and intense group sessions with our consultant, Joseph Bailey.
Joe is an author, resiliency coach and psychologist with over 40 years’ experience with addiction. Joe also works with the Mayo Clinic in their physicians’ resiliency program. Barnett Gilmer, CEO of Gulf Breeze Recovery claims, “Joe has been our consultant and staff educator since our conception. We, as a treatment center and as a staff, along with our guests, are fortunate to have someone who works to keep us ‘grounded’ so we can give our guests every opportunity to live a happy life, drug and alcohol-free.”
Healthy minds, healthy food, the help of scientific approaches like Neurofeedback and EMDR along with some of the best therapists in the industry… all create a healthy work environment for our team as well as our guests.
Holistic substance abuse treatment doesn’t focus just on sobriety. It focuses on the original or underlying problem that the substance use was attempting to solve, and helps the individual to find a healthy drug and alcohol-free way of dealing with those issues.
Gulf Breeze Recovery is a non-twelve step, holistic, substance abuse rehabilitation program that recognizes the importance of addressing the issues that led to addiction. Groups, classes and individual counseling sessions educate to promote long-term sobriety. People are recognized as being more than their addiction and are encouraged to reach their potential, to THRIVE®, in a caring, respectful environment, and are offered Total Health Recovery®, a true solution to the real problem.
Don’t settle for surviving.
